Two travelers (Makoto Fujita and Minoru Shiraki) travel the Tokaido road and meet the famous Jiro Shimizu and have many comedic adventures.

The Tokaido highway is crowded with people heading for Shimizu Port with the dream of defeating Jirocho of Shimizu and becoming the strongest in Japan. Tokijiro is a fallen yakuza who is trying to make his mark by heading for Shimizu Port with his partner, Chinen.

泉州は信太の生れ、義理には強いが、人情には弱いあんかけの時次郎。今や人気絶頂の勤王の株を先買いして、と近江は園城寺の珍念のもとに走り、二人の京都へのスチャラカ道中が始まった。その頃京都は保守の新撰組と勤王党の争いが絶えなかった。二人が訪ねて行った証城寺には偶然、勤王の花形スター坂本竜馬が間借りしていたが、薩摩の西郷吉之助と会談するため尾張に向った。その竜馬に桂小五郎の密書を届ける久坂とおゆきが急病になったので彼らの代理人として、二人はセ、パの暗号を伝授され京都から珍道中を始めたが……食物のことで喧嘩になり別行動をとることになった。この間時次郎は新撰組の女スパイ駒菊に参ってしまったり、珍念は珍念で西郷に政治資金を届ける大前田にとり入るがスゲなくされたり－－と、さんざんのていたらく、「やっぱりコンビは別れるもんじゃない」と仲直りすることになった。尾張に渡る舟のなかで彼らは竜馬に会い、あとは西郷を探すだけというところへ、大前田の子分源助が犬を連れた西郷らしいという人物をみつけたと知らせてきた。だがこの男実は谷井啓之助なる男で大前田の政治資金に目をつけ西郷になりすましていたのだ。世紀の巨頭会談が始まろうとする寸前、後を追ってきた久坂たちの機転でこの西郷と先の竜馬がニセモノと判り追いつ追われつの大捕物が始まった。そこへ二組目の西郷と竜馬が現われた。すかさずくだんの暗号“セ”を送る時次郎に、本物の竜馬の“パ”が返ってきた。ニセモノの二人は駒菊の手引きで新撰組に捕われ一巻の終り。こうしてコンビは、歴史的な新しい日本の蔭の立役者となったところで、再び楽しい“てなもんや道中”が始るのだった。

T. and T. is a Canadian-produced television series, in production from 1987 to 1990. The series premiered in first-run syndication in January 1988, later moving to new episodes on the Family Channel in 1990. It was a starring vehicle for Mr. T, after the cancellation of The A-Team in 1986.The series’ theme song was performed by Merry Clayton.The opening voice-over set-up the premise:

T.S. Turner is a former boxer who is accussed of a murder he didn't commit. All was lost but, thanks to public defender Amanda Taler, he was proven innocent. Now he works as private eye and, along side Taler, sets out to help those who can't defend themselves in and out of the justice system.
